First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do.
Our Reach
- There are nearly 60 elementary schools enrolled in our First Tee School Program locally, impacting over 30,000 local K-5th grade students per year!
- Through our First Tee Program, we reach over 1,300 youth and teens with our First Tee Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits. Nearly 80% of the students who participate in our programs are qualified for Federal Free and Reduced Lunch, and are able to participate at no cost through donor provided scholarships.
- We partner with local youth development organizations, including: NORD, Excite All-Stars, Elevate New Orleans, Southern University New Orleans - Healthy Minds & Bodies, Total Community Action, Kingsley House, Son of a Saint, and The Boys and Girls Club. Through these partnerships, we're able to introduce students to the First Tee program.
After-School Classes and Summer Camps
Our classes are open to kids ages 5 and up and focus on learning golf fundamentals while also practicing leadership development and life skills.
Our trained and certified coaching staff lead 10-week sessions in the spring, summer, and fall; in winter we run shorter programs with a different focus each year. Our summer camps combine golf training with other fun and educational activities.
Our programs meet at the following locations: Audubon Golf Club, Joseph Bartholomew Golf Course, Bayou Oaks at City Park, English Turn Country Club, Lakewood Golf Course, Chateau Golf & Country Club, Stonebridge Golf Club of New Orleans, TPC Louisiana, Timberlane Country Club, Grand Ridge Golf Club, LaTour Golf Club and Oak Harbor Golf Club.
